Sundays at Seattle Soto Zen

Our Sunday practice includes sitting meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), a brief Zen service (liturgy) and a Dharma presentation. On most Sundays Jeff gives a Dharma talk or leads a discussion. The first Sunday of the month is "Sitting Only Sunday" with an extra period of sitting and no Dharma talk. Occasionally we have a guest teacher or one of our lay leaders will lead a discussion. Please see the calendar for upcoming events.

Our "Sitting Only Sunday" ends with a Well-being and Memorial ceremony. This is a special service dedicated to those who are ill, disturbed or who otherwise need special love and compassion. We also honor the lives of those who have recently died. We will have a sign-up sheet for you to list the name(s) of those you wish to include in this special dedication. On this Sunday we also collect non-perishable food items for a local food shelf.

Please wear dark, comfortable clothing. We supply zabutons and zafus. We also have seiza benches and you are welcome to sit on a chair. Please be on your cushion by 9:25 a.m. There is no charge for sittings. We welcome your donation.
